This year we had the opportunity to act as track marshals at the Enduro World Championships in Gelnica. We started taping the track already on Thursday. We cleaned the crossings, checked the markings and kept an eye on the course of the race.
On Friday, we went to see the athletics stadium, where the Akrapovič Super Test took place in the evening, which was won by Brad Freeman on a Beta motorcycle, riding in the E3 category. The Super Test included obstacles made of wood, large stones, tractor tires and various other challenging obstacles. The atmosphere at the stadium was amazing, with lots of food stalls, entertainment and motorcycle product vendors.
On Saturday, we went through the red crossing first thing in the morning to make sure everything was ready before the main start. We spent the whole day in the red section checking riders. We managed to see both the Maxxis Enduro Test and the Acerbis Cross Test.
On the last day, Sunday, we were assigned the blue crossing. It was longer, with lots of rocky canyons. Riders from the main category, as well as juniors, performed very well. They managed to race in the heat and demanding conditions of the Polisport Extrem Test.
The race organizer prepared a beautiful race. Finally, in the overall EnduroGP category, the Spanish rider Josep Garcia took the 1st place, the Great Britain rider Brad Freeman took the 2nd place and the Italian rider Andrea Verona took the 3rd place.
