On September 16-18, another edition of our BMW Motorrad Huntík event took place in the heart of the Slovak Ore Mountains, specifically in the vicinity of Gelnice. The event was attended not only by experienced riders, but also by enthusiasts who wanted to get to know new motorcycles and experience the beauty of off-road riding in this wonderful part of Slovakia.
We started the first day with a workshop, where we devoted ourselves to a detailed presentation of the latest motorcycle from the BMW workshop – the BMW F 900 GS. This machine aroused great interest, especially for its versatile properties, which we had the opportunity to test in real conditions.
After the workshop, we moved to the saddles and completed the first familiarization rides. The weather played into our hands, even if the showers disturbed our well-being at times. This first, milder outing, was aimed at getting to know the bikes and the environment, while the route was a combination of asphalt roads and easy terrain. Riders had their own motorbikes at their disposal Honda CRF 300 L, Kawasaki KLX 250, Aprilia Tuareg 660, BMW F 900 GS or the opportunity to test new machines, including BMW F 900 GS Trophy, BMW R 1300 GS Trophy.
We started the second day early in the morning, ready for a more demanding program. Our motorbikes took us to the abandoned and historic Margecan railway tunnel, which was an interesting and adrenaline-pumping section of the entire route. Driving through the tunnel was an unforgettable experience for all participants.
After the tunnel challenge, we treated ourselves to lunch at the Emporio restaurant in Gelnica, owned by our good friend Peťo. We enjoyed a delicious meal and gained energy for the next part of the day. After lunch, an off-road trip awaited us, which tested the skills of each driver. We drove a respectable 102 km, again in a combination of asphalt and more demanding terrain. This day was also the most tested by the endurance of our motorcycles, where each of the participants appreciated the reliability and performance of their machine.
On Wednesday, we were finally greeted by stable and nice weather, which was the perfect end to the entire event. After two days of mixed weather, the sun gave us a new impetus for the final stage. On the program was the last off-road trip, the total length of which was 40 km, while most of the route led through difficult terrain.
Each participant took away a lot of unforgettable experiences, and for many it was also a valuable experience with the new motorcycle models that we had available at the event.
BMW Motorrad Huntík in Gelnica was once again an event that offered a combination of exciting riding, new technologies and a strong community of motorcyclists. We are very much looking forward to the next year and thank all participants for the great atmosphere and shared experiences. Thanks also go to our team and partners who took care of the smooth running of the entire event. We believe that next time we will bring another great event for all motorcycle enthusiasts.
